WE CALLED FOR VOLUNTEERS AND THEY ANSWERED

Members of the Emmanuel United Pentecostal Church of Camden, NJ want to give back to the community – so they recently provided between 15 and 20 volunteers to help out at our information table and with other activities during a Riversharks game at Campbell’s Field.

The Riversharks are partnered with us in our “Building a Home for the Brave” project for homeless veterans.

According to our Volunteer Coordinator Kelli Wright, “just as fast as my calls for volunteers went out, responses came in from Mrs. Sharon Anfield, the daughter of Bishop Sherman Diggs, Sr., who is the church leader.  Everybody came on time and wore their red Volunteers of America Delaware Valley T-shirts, which made them stand out and also said something special about who was representing our organization.

“Some of the volunteers from the church handed out information and greeted people.   Others who had never worked food concessions stands before gave it their best,” Kelli said. “Donations were received by Carolyn Kinard on behalf of the people we serve.  Ciani Green, the youngest of the group, learned what she needed to and kept moving.  I'm so proud we have special people like them who continue to give their time.”

Added Kelli, “Volunteers of America Delaware Valley would like to thank the members of Emmanuel United Pentecostal Church for their tireless efforts!”

For information about these and other volunteer opportunities, contact Kelli Wright at 856-854-4660, ext. 138 or kwright@voadv.org
