NEW PROGRAM DIRECTOR AT AMANI HOUSE

Gil Del Valle

Gil Del Valle is the new program director at our Amani House in Trenton, NJ. The 25-bed transitional housing program is for single men.

“Basically, this is where (otherwise homeless) guys can live and learn some skills before they find permanent housing,” Del Valle says. “Hopefully this is just a stop for them. Hopefully they get what they need here, so they can be successful on their own.”

Del Valle, who hails from Camden County, NJ, comes to us with a strong background in human services. Most recently an investigator for the N.J. Office of the Public Defender, he is enjoying his new challenge at Amani.

“When you see a person who successfully completes the program, someone who went through the challenges, and goes on to independent living—you feel you’ve been a helping hand,” he says.

Del Valle hopes to expand the programs and possibilities for his clients. “I’d like for these guys to have an opportunity to do things they haven’t done before,” he declares.
