2008 PRO-AM GOLF TOURNAMENT: BIG FUN AT LITTLE MILLThe autumn weather was sublime - and so was the golf - as Volunteers of America Delaware Valley held its 2008 Pro-Am Tournament at Little Mill Country Club on September 30. “It was very classy,” said Lem Burnham, senior vice president of development and communications at VOADV. “We had 31 groups of golfers – a full field. We had great weather, Little Mill was a great host, and the professionals from the Philadelphia section of the PGA did an exceptional job. From pre-registration to conclusion, things couldn’t have gone more smoothly.” Theresa Maher, coordinator of volunteers for VOADV, said “24 great volunteers” helped make the success possible. “I’d like to thank them for all their hard work,” she said. Maher and Burnham also cited the participation of VOADV staff. “Everybody involved knew what they were supposed to do. And they did it,” said Burnham, a devoted golfer who added that he “had a blast” playing Little Mill’s 27 holes. President and CEO Daniel L. Lombardo said the event underscored the importance of the partnerships VOADV has nurtured with businesses, institutions and individuals. “Not only do these relationships give the entire community a larger stake in the work of Volunteers of America Delaware Valley – they make the work possible,” Lombardo said. “On behalf of the 12,000 people we annually serve, I thank the sponsors, the golfers, and everyone else who supported our 2008 Pro-Am Golf Tournament.”
