HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM HONORED
The statewide energy assistance program NJ SHARES has named the Homeless Prevention program of Volunteers of America Delaware Valley the recipient of a Community Service Award.“I believe we have received this award because of the high-quality service we provide to each individual client,” said Tanicia Triplett, who manages the program. Homeless Prevention is located at 74 Church Street in the Thorofare section of West Deptford.
“The fact that we serve more than 25 families per month shows that we’re here when needed for clients who don't have many choices in South Jersey,” Triplett adds.
NJ SHARES stands for Statewide Heating Assistance and Referral for Energy Services. A private, nonprofit organization, it provides utility assistance grants for qualified households through a statewide network of agencies, including Homeless Prevention. “They are receiving the award because they make sure that the clients who need the services get the services,” said Maria Roman, outreach specialist with NJ SHARES.
