South Jersey Students Appear on TV to Promote Volunteerism

sj studentsPhiladelphia, PA - For four hours in late October on a cold and breezy day in the middle of the Philadelphia Phillies' Citizens Bank Park, 10 students from four South Jersey high schools made the most of their opportunity to appear in a national television public service announcement touting volunteerism by youth associated with Volunteers of America.

The Youth Action Teams of Volunteers of America Delaware Valley were bestowed the singular honor of being asked to be the only group of youth volunteers to appear in the new national television public service announcement on behalf of the Major League Baseball Players Association and Volunteers of America Youth Action Team Partnership.

Our Youth Action Team captains from Collingswood High School, Camden Catholic High School, Gloucester Catholic High School and West Deptford High School all participated.

Thanks in large part to the personal relationship we have built with the Major League Baseball Players Association and our youthís willingness to be called upon, even at the last minute, the Delaware Valley Youth Action Team was asked to appear in this upcoming public service announcement.

The PSA will be shown nationwide and while air dates and targets have not yet been finalized the belief is that this spot will appear in all 11 affiliates that currently have Youth Action Teams. These cities include Philadelphia, Boston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Denver, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York City, Oakland, Portland (Maine), San Francisco, Seattle, and Sacramento.

In our area there is a very good chance you will see these public service announcements during the local broadcast of Phillies games.
